Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers understand the craft of movie criticism, whether they are learning to make a clear argument or looking for a more exact way to describe what they saw.
What to pitch
Propose an original, focused piece about reviewing: for example, a way to build a thesis, select supporting details, organise an argument or reach a fair judgment. Each pitch should have one central question and a distinct answer, not a broad survey of everything a reviewer might do.
What makes a strong proposal
Tell us the working title, the main point, the intended reader and the shape of the piece. Explain what examples or reasoning will make the idea useful. Keep claims proportionate, avoid unsupported assertions, and do not pitch a review of a current film as though this were a release-review outlet.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A concise outline is enough for an initial pitch; please do not send a complete unsolicited article.
An opinion should show its workings
A useful review does more than announce a reaction. It connects a point of view to details a reader can picture and consider.
